Yale Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning promotes and develops the use of technology in support of teaching and learning. In collaboration with Yale Information Technology Services (ITS) and Yale University Libraries, they provide services that enable faculty and students to effectively collaborate and share information through the use of technologies. Additional resources include the Center for Research Computing, the Marx Science & Social Science Library, StatLab, the Yale Film Archive, and the Student Technology Collaborative.

Canvas @ Yale is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) that is designed to support teaching and learning for all active courses. It includes features such as announcements, syllabi, course resources, discussion forums, assignments, online tests and quizzes, and course rosters with student photos. Course sites are automatically created for all courses listed in the Yale Course Search. Faculty and students log on to Canvas @ Yale with their Yale NetID and password. The rapidly evolving use of artificial intelligence (AI), such as ChatGPT, provides novel opportunities and challenges that are new to many. Whether and how faculty choose to use AI themselves or to permit students to use AI writing tools will vary widely from course to course and it is up to each faculty member to provide guidance and guidelines for their students. Guidelines about these practices will change over time, so be sure to make public your most up-to-date policy. You might want to include your guidelines on your syllabi and remind students that using AI tools in a manner that was not authorized could be considered a breach of academic integrity and subject to disciplinary action.
