Total Cost of Education
For a single student living off campus in the 2026–2027 academic year, a reasonable, albeit modest, estimate of total cost may be estimated by the following costs to be $96,494 for all students.
| Tuition | $66,660 |
| Yale Health Hospitalization/Specialty Coverage1 | $3,764 |
| Housing and Meals | $19,820 |
| Books and Supplies | $4,750 |
| Personal Expenses | $1,050 |
| Transportation | $450 |
| Total Budget2 | $96,494 |
| 1 | Students may receive a waiver of the $3,764 Hospitalization/Specialty Coverage fee from Yale Health upon evidence that they have valid and sufficient alternative hospitalization coverage. Further information regarding health services can be found in the chapter Yale University Resources and Services. |
| 2 | Students who borrow federal loans are charged a loan origination fee, which increases their overall cost of attendance. For the 2025–2026 academic year, the average federal loan fee for YSoA borrowers was $379. These fees are not billed to students’ Yale accounts; instead, the federal government deducts the fee from the borrowed loan amount at the time the loan is originated.
