As with most universities in urban settings, the security of persons and property is a primary concern of the School of the Environment. The university police and the fire marshal, in cooperation with the New Haven police and fire services, strive constantly to maintain a safe environment for the Yale community. At an orientation session during the summer modules, incoming students receive detailed information on emergency communications, personal safety tips, and other ways to protect themselves, equipment, and buildings.
