Tuition Rebate and Refund Policy
In the case of withdrawal from the Yale School of Nursing for any reason, the following rebate schedule shall apply:
On the basis of the federal regulations governing the return of federal student aid (Title IV) funds for withdrawn students, the rebate and refund of tuition is subject to the following policy.
Students who withdraw from the school for any reason during the first 60 percent of the term will receive a pro rata rebate of tuition. No adjustment is made after 60 percent of the term has expired. In 2024–2025,

No portion of tuition will be rebated in the fall term after October 25, 2024, for students in the D.N.P., GEPN, M.S.N., post-master’s programs and for students in the M.S.N. Online program.

In the spring term, the date is March 30, 2025, for students in the D.N.P., GEPN, M.S.N. and post-master’s programs and March 16, 2025, for students in the M.S.N. Online program.

In the summer term, the dates are June 28, 2025, for students in the GEPN program, July 2, 2025, for D.N.P., M.S.N. and post-master’s programs, and July 6, 2025, for students in the M.S.N. Online program.
A student who withdraws from the School of Nursing for any reason during the first 60 percent of the term will be subject to the proration of the student’s federal Title IV student aid. A student who withdraws after the 60 percent point has earned 100 percent of the federal Title IV student aid. In order to comply with federal regulations, the school must return to the U.S. Department of Education any unearned federal Title IV student aid.
In 2024–2025, the last days for refunding federal Title IV student aid are the same as noted above for tuition. Aid will be refunded in the order prescribed by federal regulations, namely, first Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, then Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan.

For purposes of determining the refund of institutional aid funds and for students who have not received financial aid:

100 percent of tuition will be rebated for withdrawals that occur on or before the end of the first 10 percent of the term: in the fall term, September 5, 2024, for GEPN, M.S.N., D.N.P. programs and for students in the M.S.N. Online program, and in the spring term, January 23, 2025, for the GEPN, M.S.N., and D.N.P. programs and January 16, 2025, for the M.S.N. Online program. For the summer term GEPN May 20, 2025, M.S.N., and D.N.P. programs May 20, 2025, and M.S.N. Online May 16, 2025.

A rebate of one-half (50 percent) of tuition will be granted for withdrawals that occur after the first 10 percent but on or before the last day of the first quarter of the term: in the fall term, September 20, 2024, for GEPN, M.S.N., D.N.P. programs and for students in the M.S.N. Online program, and in the spring term, February 7, 2025, for GEPN, M.S.N. and D.N.P. programs and January 31, 2025, for students in the M.S.N. Online program. For the summer term, GEPN June 1, 2025, M.S.M Online Programs May 31, 2025, M.S.N., and D.N.P. programs June 2, 2025.

A rebate of one-quarter (25 percent) of tuition will be granted for withdrawals that occur after the first quarter of a term but on or before the day of midterm: in the fall term, October 15, 2024, for the GEPN, M.S.N. and D.N.P. programs and for students in the M.S.N. Online program, and in the spring term, March 4, 2025, for the GEPN, M.S.N., and D.N.P. programs and February 25, 2025, for the M.S.N. Online program For the summer term GEPN June 20, 2025, M.S.N., and D.N.P. programs June 23, 2025, and M.S.N. Online June 25, 2025.

Students who withdraw for any reason after midterm will not receive a rebate of any portion of tuition.

The death of a student shall cancel charges for tuition as of the date of death, and the bursar will adjust the tuition on a pro rata basis.

If the student has received student loans or other forms of financial aid, funds will be returned in the order prescribed by federal regulations; namely, first to Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans, if any; then to Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans; next to any other federal, state, private, or institutional scholarships and loans; and, finally, any remaining balance to the student.

Recipients of federal and/or institutional loans who withdraw are required to have an exit interview before leaving Yale. Students leaving Yale receive instructions on completing this process from Yale Student Financial Services.
If the student withdraws during the first week of the program, 100 percent of the tuition will be refunded. Withdrawal during week two of the program will result in a 50 percent refund of tuition. Withdrawal between weeks two and four will result in a 25 percent tuition refund. Tuition will not be refunded for withdrawals after week four of the summer session
